Green Knights Outlast Titans to Win Third-Straight Game in Series

OSHKOSH - St. Norbert College held UW-Oshkosh to 14 second-half points en route to a physical 59-44 non-conference win at Kolf Sports Center.

The Green Knights, ranked No. 10 in the D3hoops.com Top 25, improved to 2-0 on the season. Oshkosh dropped its season opener and its third consecutive game in the series with St. Norbert.

St. Norbert held Oshkosh without a field goal for almost 13 minutes while going on a decisive 11-0 run in the second half to turn a 43-38 lead to a 54-38 advantage. T.J. Kellner's pair of free throws with 14 minutes 21 seconds left cut the Titans' deficit to 43-38.

The Green Knights responded with a John Taylor jumper and a pair of David Wipperfurth free throws. Chris Peterson then made two free throws with 9:52 to go, and his 3-pointer with 9:12 left put the Green Knights ahead 52-38. Wipperfurth's jumper with 7:52 to play finished off the run.

Oshkosh, which hadn't scored a hoop since 16:21 remained, didn't get a field goal again until 3:30 left on a layup by Paul Wojahn. The Titans were just 4-for-24 (16.7 percent) from the floor in the second half.

Wipperfurth led St. Norbert with 22 points, including 18 in the first half as the Green Knights built a 39-30 halftime lead. Peterson added 16 points. The Green Knights were 20-for-37 (54.1 percent) from the floor and outrebounded the Titans 29-22.

John Flanigan had 14 points and was the only Oshkosh player to score in double figures. The Titans shot 14 of 44 (31.8 percent) from the floor and 7 of 25 (28 percent) from beyond the three-point arc.
