Ice-Cold First Half Dooms St. Norbert at UW-Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE - After making its first field-goal attempt of the game, St. Norbert College missed 17 consecutive field-goal attempts en route to a 73-56 loss to UW-Eau Claire in a non-conference game at Zorn Arena.

The Green Knights, ranked 21st by D3hoops.com, fell to 2-1 on the year. Eau Claire, which has never lost at home to St. Norbert in 10 games, improved to 2-2.

Jamie Kuhl scored on St. Norbert's first possession to give it a brief 2-0 lead. Leah Rempert connected on a 3-pointer for the Blugolds 13 seconds later, and St. Norbert would not score a basket again until Brigette Baudhuin's layup with 6:03 left in the half cut the deficit to 24-9.

Eau Claire, which led 39-18 at halftime, led by as much as 27 at 49-22 with 17:01 left to play.

St. Norbert shot 33.9 percent from the floor, making 19 of 56 field goals. The Green Knights, who made just 6 of 28 shots (21.4 percent) in the first half, were led by Krista Pelky's 14 points. Amy Brunner added 11.

Hannah Mesick had 23 points for Eau Claire, which shot 49.1 percent (27-for-55) from the floor. Sarah Bingea added 10.
