St. Norbert Clips Bluejays, Moves to 3-0

DE PERE - St. Norbert College led from start to finish en route to a 74-48 win over Elmhurst College in a non-conference game on Connie Tilley Court at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights, ranked No. 10 in the D3hoops.com Top 25, improved to 3-0 overall and has won 56 of its last 71 games. Elmhurst dropped to 0-3.

St. Norbert slowly pulled away throughout the game, eventually taking a 10-point lead at 24-14 on a 3-pointer by David Wipperfurth. The Bluejays cut their deficit to seven on two separate occasions but the Green Knights settled on a 35-23 halftime lead.

The Green Knights opened the second half on an 8-0 run, with Wipperfurth scoring a pair of baskets and Steve Papke and Chris Peterson one each, to take a 43-23 lead with 17:12 left. St. Norbert never led by less than 15 the rest of the game.

Wipperfurth led all scorers with 21 points, while Peterson added nine for the Green Knights, who had 13 different players crack the scoring column. John Taylor added six points, six rebounds and seven assists while running the point. St. Norbert shot 51 percent (26-for-51) from the floor and had just seven turnovers.

Sean Fendley led Elmhurst with 12 points off the bench, while Zack Boyd added 10. The Bluejays shot 39.6 percent (19-for-48) from the floor.
