DE PERE - St. Norbert College men's basketball player Chris Peterson has been named first team College Division Academic All-District V as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and Capitol One.

Peterson, a Marinette native and a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School, holds a 3.87 grade point average with a major in business administration. The senior center currently averages 9.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game for the Green Knights, who are 15-3 overall and 11-2 in the Midwest Conference.

Peterson was a second-team All-Midwest Conference selection in 2010 while averaging 13.7 points per game for a team that finished 23-4 and won the Midwest Conference championship. Also an Academic All-Midwest Conference selection in 2009 and 2010, Peterson will attend dental school at the University of Pittsburgh in the Fall of 2011.

The College Division District V consists of NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA schools in Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. As a first-team all-district selection, Peterson moves on to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.

To be eligible for national or regional selection, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.0, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his current institution and be nominated by his sports information director. The Academic All-America team is selected after All-District teams are picked from eight geographic regions nationally. This year's Academic All-America team will be announced February 22.
