Green Knights Fall at UW-Stout

MENOMONIE - St. Norbert College ended the regular season with a 5-1 loss to UW-Stout in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Dunn County Ice Arena.

Both teams were locked into their seedings for the NCHA's Peters Cup Playoffs heading into the game. St. Norbert (20-4-1, 14-3-1) is the No. 1 seeding and has a bye in the quarterfinal round. Stout (15-10, 10-8) is the tournament's No. 3 seeding.

Stout led 2-0 on first-period goals by Robert Carr and Branden Gay. Gay then put the Blue Devils ahead 3-0 early in the second period. St. Norbert's Kyle Stroh scored the Green Knights' only goal on a penalty shot at the 3:32 mark of the third period. Gay added a third marker for a hat trick at 10:54 and Logan Maly closed out the scoring with an empty-netter at 16:20.

St. Norbert outshot Stout 45-33 but the Blue Devils' Nick Hopper made 44 saves. Mike Martin made 28 stops for St. Norbert. The Green Knights were 0-for-5 on the power play and Stout was 1-for-3.
