St. Norbert Tops Dubuque, Falls to Carthage

MADISON - St. Norbert College split a pair of non-conference dual matches at the Nielsen Tennis Center, topping the University of Dubuque 7-2 before losing to Carthage College 8-0.

St. Norbert is now 3-1 on the season.

The Green Knights picked up two points in doubles action against Dubuque. Tim Hartwick and Josh Sweere topped Christopher Matteson and Michael Braden 8-5 at No. 2. Matt Lobeck and Danny Meicher beat Demetrius Johnson and Dishon Derring 9-7 at No. 3.

Hartwick picked up a win over Claudio Giraldi 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, followed by Lobeck's 6-2, 6-1 win over Johnson at No. 3. Nick Acosta earned a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Matteson at No. 4, while Sweere beat Shawn Iben 6-4, 7-5 at No. 5. Meicher then closed out the match with a 6-0, 7-6 (7-2) win over Braden.
