St. Norbert to Face Defending National Champion UW-Stevens Point in NCAA Tournament

DE PERE - St. Norbert College will face defending national champion UW-Stevens Point in a first-round NCAA Division III Tournament game Friday at Concordia University in Mequon.

St. Norbert (20-5) will face the Pointers (24-3) Friday at a time to be determined. The two teams met in the second round of last year's NCAA tournament, with Stevens Point claiming a 63-48 win at Quandt Fieldhouse.

The Green Knights earned the Midwest Conference's automatic qualifier with an 89-67 win over Grinnell College Saturday at Schuldes Sports Center. St. Norbert has won 11 of its last 13 games. The Green Knights are making their fourth NCAA Division III Tournament appearance. St. Norbert, 2-3 all-time in the tuornament, made appearances in 1984, 2002 and 2010.

Stevens Point won the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 14-2 record and won the WIAC Tournament championship with a 79-56 win Saturday over UW-River Falls. The Pointers, who are making their 10th NCAA Division III Tournament visit, are 25-6 all-time in the tournament and won national titles in 2004, 2005 and 2010.

Concordia (23-4) will face Luther College (18-8) in the other first-round game Friday. The two first-round winners will meet Saturday night for the regional title.
