St. Norbert Splits With Greenville

LEESBURG, Fla. - St. Norbert College saw a prime chance to get back to within .500 on the year go by the boards with a doubleheader split against Greenville College at Pat Thomas Stadium.

The Green Knights took the opener 13-9 before dropping the nightcap 7-6. St. Norbert is now 4-6 on the year, while Greenville is 1-10.

St. Norbert built an 8-3 lead after three innings but gave up six runs in the top of the fourth. The Green Knights answered with three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to rally for the win. Jordan Powers had a two-run single and Matt Hannon a two-run double in the third. Ryan Way had a three-run home run in the fifth to put the Green Knights ahead 11-9.

Powers was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs, while Hannon was 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Kyle Mahlik picked up the win in relief, going scoreless innings while allowing one hit and no walks with three strikeouts.

St. Norbert led 6-1 going into the bottom of the sixth in the nightcap before the Panthers rallied with five runs in the sixth and one in the seventh. Jared Yost had a three-run double in the third and Carlos Rodriguez had a two-run double in the sixth. Yost was 2-for-4 in the nightcap with three RBIs.
