APPLETON - St. Norbert College had to settle for a doubleheader split against Lawrence University, winning 8-0 and losing 4-3 in a pair of Midwest Conference games at Whiting Field.

The Green Knights (15-14, 8-3 MWC) now need to win their last two league games and also need Ripon College to lose one of its last four games to earn hosting privileges for the MWC Tournament.

St. Norbert dominated the opener, with Kari Corbeille twirling a 1-hit shutout. Corbeille walked only one and struck out seven. The Green Knights rapped out 13 hits in the game, with Steph Brunette, Brittany Narges, Morgan Buboltz, Jessica Kropp and Ashtin Schmechel having two apiece.

Narges cranked a solo home run in the fourth inning to get the scoring started. Narges' blast was her sixth of the year, tying Brieanne Oehlke's school record set in 2007. Buboltz's triple to score Kayle Krueger later in the inning made it 2-0. Schmechel stroked a two-run home run in the fifth, and Kropp added a three-run home run in the sixth.

In the nightcap, St. Norbert scored three runs in the fourth inning to take a 3-0 lead, highlighted by Kropp's RBI double and Abby Van Straten's two-run single. Lawrence would answer in the bottom of the inning on a three-run home run by Gaelen Lombard-Knapp. Alissa Geipel's RBI single in the fifth proved to be the game-winner for the Vikings.

Krueger took the loss for the Green Knights, allowing six hits with one walk and five strikeouts. Krueger and Buboltz each had two hits, while Narges added a triple and two stolen bases.
