Green Knights Finish Fourth at MWC Outdoor Track and Field Meet

MONMOUTH, Ill. - St. Norbert College finished in fourth place at the Midwest Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship held at Monmouth College's Zorn Stadium.

The Green Knights finished with 101 points, narrowly missing third-place Grinnell College's 102 points. Monmouth College won the championship with 225.5 points, while Ripon College was second with 140 points.

Dann Schneider broke his own school record in the long jump and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championship with a winning leap of 23 feet 9 inches. Schneider also copped the 400-meter title with a sprint of 48.60 seconds and was fourth in the 200 in 22.50 seconds. Schneider was named one of the Field Performers of the Meet at the event's conclusion.

Mike Verfuerth was second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.28 seconds, and was runner-up in the long jump with a leap of 23-5 1/2.

Bryon Betts placed third in the shot put with a toss of 138-10, while Kenny Oxendorf was fourth in 130-11.

Mackenzie Laska was fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:41.41, while Alex DeVillers was fifth in 9:59.12. Laska was also fourth in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 33:08.65.

Louis Ayensu-Mensah was fifth in the 100-meter dash in 11.24 seconds. Nathan Heppe was fifth in the 800-meter run in 1:57.63. Joe McArdle added a fifth-place in the shot put at 45-3.

The St. Norbert 4x100-meter relay team was fourth in 43.87 seconds, while the Green Knights were fifth in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:27.09.
