Gobert Finishes 11th at NCAA DIvision III Decathlon

DELAWARE, Ohio - St. Norbert College senior Jordan Gobert finished three places short of reaching All-America status with an 11th-place finish in the decathlon at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University.

Gobert, who was 17th out of 19 entrants after the first day of competition, scored well on the second day to finish with a total of 6,385 points. Gobert was 54 points out of eighth place, which would have accorded him All-America honors. Central College's Ethan Miller was the national champion with 7,170 points.

Gobert started the day with 775 points with a 15.98 seconds showing in the 110-meter high hurdles. He then flung the discus 114 feet 7 inches for 562 points. Gobert cleared 14-9 on the pole vault for 760 points, and then tossed the javelin 155-5 for 550 points. His final event was a 4:48.54 in the 1,500-meter run for 627 points.

Gobert was the first St. Norbert thinclad to ever compete in the decathlon at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championship.
