Green Knights Split Again

ORLANDO, Fla. - The St. Norbert College women's softball team split for the second-straight day to even its season record at 2-2.

The Green Knights beat Westminster (Pa.) College 6-3 in nine innings in the opener before falling to Illinois Wesleyan University 9-3 in the nightcap.

St. Norbert scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to earn the victory. Tracy Palmer singled in Kim Sawyer for the go-ahead run, and Brieanne Oehlke drilled a two-run triple to drive in Palmer and Erin Pamperin.

The Green Knights snapped a 1-1 tie with two runs in the top of the fifth inning when Oehlke stroked a two-run double. Westminster tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Kayla Krueger spun the complete-game victory, scattering seven hits with one walk and four strikeouts.

Oehlke finished 2-for-4 with four RBIs, while Palmer was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and Julie Hayes was 2-for-4.

St. Norbert trailed 4-3 against Illinois Wesleyan after five innings before the Titans scored two runs in the sixth and four more in the seventh to pull away.

Oehlke had an RBI fielders' choice in the fifth, and Lindsey Reynolds added an RBI single. Reynolds had an RBI double in the first inning.

Reynolds was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Palmer was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. The Green Knights had just five hits.

Mara Resch took the loss for St. Norbert, allowing 10 hits and six walks with two strikeouts in the complete-game effort.
