St. Norbert Blanks Ripon in Conference Opener

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College got off to a good start in Midwest Conference North Division play with a 9-0 win over Ripon College at Western Racquet.

The Green Knights picked up all three doubles points handily. Kelly Van Handel and Nancy Chybowski beat Elizabeth Ake and Josie Ullsperger 8-3 at No. 1, while Laura Michel and Maria Slusarek topped Katie Majerowski and Brittany Sullivan 8-4 at the No. 2 flight. Callie Schroeder and Maggie Berens beat Olivia Wetzel and Alison Thies 8-1.

Van Handel beat Josie Ullsperger 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, followed by Chybowski's 6-1, 6-1 win over Sullivan at No. 2. Schroeder topped Majerowski 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3, and Ariel Bloniarz won 6-1, 6-0 over Chloe Piepho. Anna Reardon beat Ake 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5, and Slusarek beat Wetzel 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6.
