GRINNELL, Iowa - St. Norbert College picked a good time to win its first match of the season, topping longtime Midwest Conference rival Grinnell College 2-0 at Springer Field.

The Green Knights (1-7-1, 1-1-1 MWC) got a goal in each half to dispatch the Pioneers (2-7-1, 0-2 MWC).

Jeff Hayes scored his second marker of the year with an unassisted goal at the 14 minutes 16 seconds mark. It was St. Norbert's only shot of the half.

The Green Knights made that goal stand up until Kyryll Vasylenko scored his first collegiate goal at 60:57. His score was also unassisted.

Grinnell outshot St. Norbert 7-4 and had the edge in corner kicks 7-3. St. Norbert had an 8-6 edge in fouls in a relatively clean match that saw no cautions issued. Noah Davis made four stops for St. Norbert, while Greg Fox made one save for the Pioneers.
