GREEN BAY - A late turnover in the St. Norbert College defensive zone cost the Green Knights dearly as they fell 3-2 to UW-Eau Claire in their Northern Collegiate Hockey Association opener at the Cornerstone Community Center's Resch Olympic Pavilion.

St. Norbert (1-3, 0-1 NCHA) had battled back to a 2-2 tie before Eau Claire beat the Green Knights to a pick just inside the blue line. Abbie Hawthorne's shot beat St. Norbert goaltender Kaley Gibson five-hole with 1:52 left for the game-winning goal.

In a regionally televised game, Eau Claire took a 1-0 lead at the 9-minute mark of the first period on Dani Kerr's goal off a rebound. The Green Knights tied it at 15:31 of the second period on Karissa Anderson's first goal of the year.

The Blugolds took a 2-1 lead just 34 seconds into the period on a Toni Simones goal. St. Norbert tied it at 12:53 when Ali Parker cleaned up a scrum around the net.

St. Norbert held a commanding 32-12 shots edge. The game featured just one penalty, an obstruction hooking call on Eau Claire's Andi Husted at the 8:25 mark of the second period. Morgan Pieper made 30 saves for Eau Claire, while Gibson made nine stops for the Green Knights.
