St. Norbert Loses in Shootout at Adrian

ADRIAN, Mich. - St. Norbert College couldn't keep pace offensively with nationally ranked Adrian College to fall 6-4 to the Bulldogs in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Arrington Ice Arena.

The No. 10-ranked Bulldogs (4-2-1, 2-2-1 NCHA) were outshot 36-19 but cashed in on nearly one-third of their shots to pull out the win over St. Norbert (2-4, 1-2).

Adrian jumped ahead 2-0 early on goals by Nina Laurie at 4:03 and Olivia Rork at 4:20. The Green Knights pulled even at 2-2 on a score by Karissa Anderson at 8:03 and a power-play marker Laurel Hill at 18:27. Adrian would pull ahead just before the end of the period on a Sarah Connelly goal just 12 seconds before intermission.

The Bulldogs would lead 5-2 after getting a power-play goal by Rork at 9:35 and an even-strength goal from Rork at 14:00. Adrian made it 6-2 when Hannah McGowan scored a power-play goal at 18:05.

St. Norbert answered in the third period on goals by Jade Popescul at 13:16 and Zoe Kurth at 18:53 but couldn't get closer.

Adrian was 2-for-4 on the power play and St. Norbert was 1-for-7. Kaley Gibson made 10 saves for St. Norbert in two periods, while Katie Aluia stopped all three shots she faced in the third. Brittany Zeches made nine saves in the first period for Adrian, while Emily Michelin finished up with 23 saves in the last two periods.
