St. Norbert Grinds Past Grinnell

GRINNELL, Iowa - St. Norbert College remained unbeaten all-time against Grinnell College with a 58-48 road win over the Pioneers in both teams' Midwest Conference opener at Darby Gym.

The Green Knights, now 26-0 overall all-time against Grinnell, are 3-2 overall. Grinnell fell to 1-4 overall.

St. Norbert and Grinnell engaged in a nip-and-tuck first half which saw 13 lead changes. The Green Knights held a 29-25 lead at intermission despite 16 first-half points from Grinnell's Toluwaloju Alabi.

The Green Knights led 33-29 early in the second half before going on an 8-2 run over the next 5 minutes. Krista Pelky had a pair of baskets and a free throw to fuel St. Norbert's run. Grinnell trailed 49-37 with 5:13 left before getting back to within four at 49-45 with 2:47 to go, but the Green Knights made 9 of 12 free throws down the stretch to hold on to the win.

St. Norbert shot 38 percent (19-for-50) from the floor. Pelky finished with 18 points, while Kuhl had 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Alabi was held to just two points in the second half, but still led Grinnell in scoring with 18 points. The Pioneers shot 31 percent (18-for-58) from the floor.
