Goals Flow Forth in St. Norbert Win Over St. Catherine

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College scored a season-high seven goals to snap a five-game losing streak in a 7-5 non-conference win over St. Catherine University at the Cornerstone Community Center's Resch Olympic Pavilion.

The Green Knights, who had scored just four goals during their five-game skid, improved to 5-9 overall. St. Catherine fell to 6-3-2.

St. Norbert led 4-2 after a wild first period. Taylor Giacin scored at the 9 minutes 10 seconds mark to give the Green Knights a 1-0 lead. The Wildcats' Kayla Clifton answered at 13:42 with a power-play goals. St. Norbert scored three goals just 1:48 apart late in the period for a 4-1 lead. Zoe Kurth scored off a loose puck in front of the net at 18:06, followed by a Tara Frey score at 18:06. Emma Agen finished the blitz with a goal at 18:44. The Wildcats' Kelsey Abrahamson finished off the scoring in the period at 19:16.

Abrahamson cut the deficit to 4-3 with a power-play goal at 2:09 of the second. Danielle Rozon scored on the power-play at 9:43 to push the Green Knights ahead 5-3, but Abrahamson scored again at 11:38 to make it 5-4.

Abrahamson picked up her fourth marker of the game on a shorthanded breakaway at 5:36 of the third period. St. Norbert's Jade Popescul scored at 8:53 for the game-winning goal, and Rozon's second goal of the game came at 17:36 to salt away the win.

Rozon finished with two goals and one assist for three points, while Lotta Haarala and Madeleine Siggelin both had two assists.

St. Catherine outshot St. Norbert 45-37. Mandy Montgomery made 40 saves for the Green Knights. Kayla Lange started between the pipes for the Wildcats, making 20 saves in 27:40 of action. Haley Morningstar finished up and had 10 saves in 32:20 in taking the loss.

St. Norbert was 1-for-5 on the power play, while St. Catherine was 2-for-4.
