Big Third Period Lifts St. Norbert to Sweep of UW-Superior

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College scored three third-period goals in order to gain a 5-2 win over UW-Superior in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at the Cornerstone Community Center.

St. Norbert, ranked No. 8 in the USCHO.com Division III Poll, earned its first home weekend sweep of the year in improving to 9-4-4 overall and 6-3-1 in the NCHA. Superior dropped to 8-7-2, 3-5-2. St. Norbert is now 14-1-2 in its last 17 home games against Superior.

The Green Knights outshot the Yellowjackets 12-4 in the third period. Cody Keefer scored the game-winning goal with a power-play score 3 minutes 49 seconds into the frame. Seth Soley then added to the lead with another power-play goal, this one coming at 9:40. Alain Joanette's marker with 11 seconds left led to the final score.

Superior took the early led with an unassisted goal by Brett Meyers 14 minutes into the game. Kyle Stroh tied the game just 6 seconds left in the first period to knot the game at one. Cullen Bradshaw gave St. Norbert a 2-1 lead at 2:43 of the second, but Superior's T.J. Ahvenniemi countered at 3:48 to square the game at 2-2.

Soley, Joanette and Ryd all had two-assist games for the Green Knights. Soley's goal was his team-high 11th.

St. Norbert outshot Superior 32-21. David Jacobson made 19 saves for the Green Knights, while Drew Strandberg made 27 stops for the Yellowjackets. St. Norbert was 2-for-6 on the power play, while Superior was 0-for-2.
