Green Knights Pick Up Key Win at St. Scholastica

DULUTH, Minn. - St. Norbert College claimed a key win in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association with a 3-1 triumph over the College of St. Scholastica at Mars Lakeview Arena.

St. Norbert (13-5-5, 10-4-2 NCHA) holds a four-point lead in the league race entering Saturday night's action. The Saints (12-7-4, 7-5-4) are four points back along with UW-River Falls.

The Green Knights wasted little time in taking control of the game with Johan Ryd scoring his 13th goal of the year just 59 seconds into the game. Joe Perry and Carl Esktrom assisted on the marker.

That lead held up until Alain Joanette scored unassisted at 8:03 of the second period. Derek Donohue then scored at 11:23 with Joanette and Mason Baptista assisting.

The Saints scored their lone goal at 11:24 of the third period when Brandon Nowakowski found the back of the net.

St. Scholastica outshot St. Norbert 29-28. David Jacobson made 28 saves for the Green Knights, while Colin Rundell made 25 saves for the Saints. St. Norbert was 0-for-5 on the power play, while the Saints were 0-for-3.
