St. Norbert Bounces Back Against Grinnell

DE PERE - St. Norbert College rebounded from its first Midwest Conference loss of the season with a 51-35 win over Grinnell College on Connie Tilley Court at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights (16-4, 14-1 MWC) also bounced back defensively by holding the Pioneers (10-9, 9-6) to 29.2 percent shooting from the floor and forced 23 turnovers.

St. Norbert trailed 9-6 in the early going before taking control of the game with a 10-0 run for a 16-9 edge 7 1/2 minutes into the game. The Green Knights led 27-18 at halftime and opened the second half on an 11-2 run for a 38-20 lead with 12:54 left in the game.

St. Norbert's Krista Pelky led all scorers with 14 points and also added five steals. Krista Hawkinson and Tasha Giese both had nine points for the Green Knights, who connected on 22 of 57 (38.6 percent) field-goal attempts.

Grinnell was led by Rebecca DeGroot's 11 points, with nine of them coming in the first four minutes of the game. The Pioneers made just 14 of 48 field-goal attempts and only attempted two free throws, making both.
