Green Knights Season Ends at UW-Superior

SUPERIOR - For the second-straight game, St. Norbert College couldn't recover from a three-goal deficit as the Green Knights fell to UW-Superior 5-3 in the second game of an NCAA Division III O'Brien Cup Playoffs quarterfinal series at Wessman Arena.

The Green Knights end their second season 13-14, while Superior improved to 17-7-3.

The Yellowjackets took a 2-0 lead in the first period on a power-play play goal by Kaiti Graham at 10:28 and a goal by Kiara DeKezel 36 seconds later. Superior took a 3-0 lead early in the second period on a power-platy goal by Bailey Lane.

St. Norbert answered with two goals early in the second period. Zoe Kurth scored a power-play goal at 4:24 and Laurel Hill at 5:30.

Superior pushed back ahead 4-2 at 1:06 of the third period, but St. Norbert's Tara Frey connected on a power-play goal at 4:39. Sheryl Kaskiw scored a power-play empty net goal to seal the game with 35 seconds left.

Superior outshot St. Norbert 28-22. Kaley Gibson made 23 saves for the Green Knights, while Shanley Peters made 19 stops for Superior. Superior was 3-for-5 on the power play, while St. Norbert was 2-for-4.
