Gries Named First-Team All-Midwest Conference

DE PERE - St. Norbert College sophomore guard Brandon Gries was named to the All-Midwest Conference first team.
Gries, the only Green Knights selected to the first or second All-MWC teams, led the Green Knights in scoring at 14.5 points per game. Gries, a Kiel native, shot 41.1 percent (102-for-248) from the floor, 37.5 percent (33-for-88) on three-point field goals and 79.3 percent (111-for-140) at the free-throw line. Gries also had a team-high 77 assists.
Freshman forward Andrew Schwoerer and sophomore center Garrett Thorn both earned honorable mention All-MWC status.
Schwoerer was the top freshman scorer in the Midwest Conference this year at 12.3 points per game, and he averaged a team-high 6.4 rebounds per game. Schwoerer, a Valders native, shot 52.1 percent from the floor.
Thorn, a Sugar Camp native, scored 9.4 points per game while shooting 56.8 percent from the floor. He also averaged 5.3 rebounds per game and had a team-high 17 blocked shots.
