St. Norbert Swept by UW-Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT - St. Norbert College suffered a doubleheader sweep at the hands of UW-Stevens Point, falling 12-0 and 9-1 to the Pointers at University Field.

The Green Knights are now 6-5 overall, while the Pointers, ranked 24th by D3baseball.com, are 11-6.

St. Norbert managed just 10 hits in the doubleheader, all singles. The Green Knights had five hits in each game.

The Pointers jumped ahead 2-0 in the first inning of the opener on three hits and ended the game by 10-run rule in the eighth inning. Tony Jandron took the loss for St. Norbert, allowing seven runs in 5.1 innings. Garrett Nix worked six shutout innings to get the win for Stevens Point.

St. Norbert hung around in the second came, trailing 2-1 going into the eighth inning. But the Pointers broke the game open in the eighth inning against the St. Norbert bullpen, scoring seven times to salt the game away.

Brett Yost took the loss for the Green Knights, allowing three runs and six hits in seven-plus innings. Brett Birkholz was 2-for-3 for St. Norbert.

St. Norbert scored its lone run in the fourth inning on a pair of walks, a throwing error and a sacrifice fly by Mike Wallerich to score Cory Fuller.
