Green Knights Romp to SNC Invitational Win

DE PERE - St. Norbert College ran away by an impressive margin with the team championship of the St. Norbert Invitational at Schneider Stadium.

The Green Knights piled up 218 points to cruise to the win in the 12-team meet. St. Norbert easily outdistanced runner-up Ripon College, which had 98 points. Third-place College of St. Scholastica had 70 points.

Justin Johnson won the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.07 seconds. He also ran a blistering school-record time of 14.41 seconds in the preliminaries of the 110-meter hurdles, but opted to not run in the finals.

Randy Hill won a pair of field events. Hill picked up wins with a clearing height of 6 feet 4 inches in the high jump and triple jump distance of 44-11. Bryon Betts earned St. Norbert's third field-event win with a toss of 138-1 in the discus.

Taylor Pasterski won the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.37 seconds. Benny Swift won the 800-meter dash in 1:55.74, while Jake Schneider was second in 1:58.14. Michael Heise won the 10,000-meter run in 33:36.34, while Brady Bemis was third in 34:53.22.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Pasterski, Johnson, Tyler Seidl and Brent Schreiber won with a time of 42.47 seconds. The quartet of Pasterski, Ryan Ascher, Schneider and Johnson claimed the title of the 4x400-meter relay in 3:24.77.

Mike Verfuerth was second in the long jump at 22-3/4 and was also second in the triple jump at 43-1. Patrick Sweetman was second in the javelin throw at 148-3. Nathan Heppe was second in the 1,500-meter run in 4:05.93, while Logan Jadin was second in the 5,000-meter run in 15:45.80.

David Prosper was third in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:01.13. Schreiber was third in the long jump at 21-9.
