GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College dropped a 5-4 decision to Lawrence University in a Midwest Conference North Division dual at Western Racquet, but the Green Knights narrow loss carried along with it some good news.

The Green Knights (5-12, 2-1 MWC North) should have the No. 1 seeding from the North Division for the league's team tournament locked up due to a couple of tiebreakers. First, the three tied teams - Carroll University, St. Norbert and Lawrence all split its head-to-head matches. The next tie breaker is number of match wins - with Carroll posting 11, St. Norbert nine and Lawrence seven, which eliminates the Vikings. The tiebreaker then reverts back to head-to-head, which St. Norbert holds on Carroll giving the Green Knights the No. 1 seeding. St. Norbert will face Grinnell College at 10 a.m. Friday at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison in the semifinals of the team tournament.

The match that tipped the scales in the Green Knights' favor came at No. 2 singles, where Tim hartwick ground out a three-set win over Max Zlevor. Hartwick won the first set 6-3 before Zlevor rallied to win the second set 6-0. Hartwick then claimed the decisive third set 6-3 to give the Green Knights the tiebreaker edge.

St. Norbert picked up two doubles points. Hartwick and Matt Lobeck beat Caleb Ray and Cooper Smith 9-7 at No. 2. Josh Sweere and Travis Buechel topped Craig Sherwood and Jeremy Andereck 9-7 at No. 3.

Nate Gosz earned the Green Knights' other win with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Andereck at No. 6 singles.
