DE PERE - Henriette Ostergaard, who helped lead St. Norbert College to its second consecutive playoff appearance in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association, continued her strong play into the IIHF World Championship Division I "Group B" Tournament where she helped Denmark advance to next year's Division I Tournament with an overall 4-1 record. This year's World Championship were played in Hull, Great Britain April 9-15.

Ostergaard was the Danes' top scorer with 15 points, scoring seven goals and eight assists. Behind her on the team in tournament scoring were linemates Josefine Jakobsen (7-6-13) from the University of North Dakota and Marie Henriksen (5-8-13) from the Herlev Hornets of the Danish Elite League.

Denmark won all of its games except one, topping Great Britain, The Netherlands, Italy & France. Denmark lost to China 4-2 despite a 31-20 shots-on-goal advantage.

Next up for Ostergaard and the Danish national team is the Olympic pre-qualification round November 8-11, 2012. The site for this tournament has not been determined, and it will include nations ranked 13-18 by the IIHF. Advancing from the pre-qualifier would earn a trip for Denmark to the final Olympic qualification round held February 7-10, 2013. The 2014 Winter Olympics will be held in Sochi, Russia and only the top eight teams are invited.
