St. Norbert Assigned to NCAA Division III Midwest Regional

DE PERE - St. Norbert College has been assigned to the Midwest Regional of the 2012 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship this Wednesday-Sunday at UW-Whitewater in Whitewater.

The Green Knights (26-11) are scheduled to face the University of St. Thomas, which is 34-8 and ranked No. 2 in the latest D3baseball.com Top 25, at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Other first-round games Wednesday at Prucha Field include UW-La Crosse (33-9) vs. Aurora University (36-8), North Park University (29-15) vs. College of St. Scholastica (33-9) and UW-Whitewater (29-16) vs. Concordia University Chicago (33-12).

St. Norbert will face either UW-Whitewater or Concordia-Chicago on Thursday. If the Green Knights win their first-round game, they would play in the winners' bracket at 4 p.m. Should St. Norbert lose, it would play at 10 a.m.

The Green Knights, champion of the Midwest Conference, is making its third NCAA Division III Tournament appearance. St. Norbert is 0-4 all-time in the tournament. The Green Knights went 0-2 at the West Regional in 2003, and also went 0-2 at the Midwest Regional in 2009 after earning an at-large berth into the tournament.
