Fisher and Nutley Lead St. Norbert All-Midwest Conference Selections

DE PERE - St. Norbert College occupied seven of the 14 available spots on the 2012 All-Midwest Conference baseball team.

Senior third baseman Garrick Fisher was named North Division Positional Player of the Year, while sophomore lefthander Kevin Nutley shared North Division Pitcher of the Year honors with Beloit College's Alex Norman.

In addition to Fisher and Nutley, named to the first team were sophomore designated hitter Travis Mason, senior second baseman Jordan Powers, sophomore shortstop Chad Ljunggren, senior outfielder Matt Hannon and junior pitcher Josh Honzik.

St. Norbert coach Tom Winske was also named North Division Coach of the Year for the seventh time.

Through action in the Midwest Conference Tournament, Fisher hit .342 with team highs in doubles (13) and runs batted in (43). Fisher is a three-time first-team All-MWC selection and was a second-team pick his freshman year.

Nutley entered the NCAA Division III Tournament with a 4-3 record, 2.69 earned run average and .230 batting average against. He allowed just 55 hits in 63 2/3 innings pitched.

Mason hit .344 with a team-high three home runs and finished with 32 RBIs. Mason also went 7-1 on the mound with a 3.77 earned run average and .304 batting average against.

Powers drew a whopping 45 walks with a .336 batting average for a .528 on-base percentage. Powers also stole 14 bases and scored a team-high 52 runs.

Ljunggren hit .338 and shared the team lead in stolen bases with 14. He also walked 22 times and had 29 RBIs.

Hannon led the Green Knights in hitting at .383 and had a team-high 62 hits with 39 RBIs, the second-highest total on the team.

Honzik went 6-2 and worked a team-high 67 1/3 innings pitched. Honzik had a 3.74 earned run average and .280 batting average against.
