Green Knights Claim Midwest Conference Women's All-Sports Trophy

DE PERE - St. Norbert College claimed the Midwest Conference Ralph Shively All-Sports Championship Trophy for women's sports during the 2011-12 school year.

The Green Knights eked out their 13th MWC women's all-sports trophy by the slimmest of margins, edging Monmouth College 79 points to 78.5 points. Carroll University was third with 76 points and Grinnell College fourth with 74.5 points. Points are awarded on a 10-point scale based on conference finish.

St. Norbert entered the 4x400-meter relay of the women's conference outdoor track and field meet needing to finish ahead of Carroll in the race to finish second in the team standings and claim the trophy. The foursome of Katherine Larson, Megan Domnick, Erin McShea and Emily Schudrowitz won the event with a conference record time of 3:58.40 to ensure the all-sports title.

St. Norbert also won the women's all-sports trophy from 1985-89, 1991, 2003-04, 2007-10 and 2012. The Green Knights won MWC women's titles in volleyball, soccer, basketball and softball this year.

The St. Norbert men finished in fourth in the team standings with 64 points. Carroll was first with 76 points, while Monmouth was second with 74.5 points. Grinnell placed third with 72.5 points. Baseball won the men's lone conference title this school year.
