GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College split a Midwest Conference softball doubleheader with Carroll College, winning 4-1 and losing 2-0 at Riverview Park.

The Green Knights (13-10, 5-1 MWC) used a four-run inning to win the opener, but got just one hit in the nightcap to fall to the Pioneers (11-7, 4-2 MWC).

St. Norbert scored four times in the third inning of the opener on three hits and one Carroll error. Sam Boushley doubled with one out, and Lindsey Reynolds followed with a walk. Following an out that advanced the runners, Jes Van Hout walked to load the bases. Erin Pamperin followed with a single to right field to drive in two runs.

Pamperin then stole second to put runners on second and third. Julie Hayes then hit a sharp groundball that caromed off the pitcher's glove for a hit and Van Hout and Pamperin were able to score.

Carroll got one unearned run in the top of the fifth inning, but couldn't generate anything else against Mara Resch. Resch allowed three hits and struck out three while working around four walks and four wild pitches.

St. Norbert couldn't get anything going in the nightcap, getting just Hayes' infield single in the third inning. The Green Knights did not get a runner to second base against Carroll's Kelsey Deakins, who allowed just one walk and struck out two in addition to the one hit.

Carroll scored twice in the fifth inning off St. Norbert pitcher Kayla Krueger. Amanda Schrimsher had an RBI single and Mindy Benz drove in an insurance run on a safety squeeze bunt.

Krueger allowed seven hits with one walk and two strikeouts.
