DE PERE - St. Norbert College saw its chances to gain a share of the Midwest Conference championship went by the wayside in a 1-1 double-overtime tie with Ripon College on Kolstad Field at Schneider Stadium.

The Green Knights (10-3-3, 5-1-2) outshot Ripon (9-5-2, 3-4-1) by a whopping 35-5 margin, but couldn't find the back of the net for a game-winning goal. Lake Forest College clinched the outright MWC title and will host the league tournament on Nov. 2-3.

Ripon scored the first goal when Amy Rueling's shot to the left post snuck past St. Norbert goalkeeper Sarah Platzer at the 46 minutes 10 seconds mark. The Green Knights tied the score at 1-1 when Katie Vanden Avond converted a penalty kick at 52:47, her 25th goal of the year.

St. Norbert appeared to have scored the game-winning goal with 4:54 left in regulation time on a marker by Vanden Avond, but the score was waved off by the officials after an apparent foul behind the play.

The Green Knights outshot the Red Hawks 11-1 in the two overtime sessions but were scoreless.

Ripon goalkeeper Sidney Blodgett turned in a stellar performance by making 15 saves, with several stops coming at point-blank range.
