Eight Green Knights Earn All-Midwest Conference Honors

DE PERE - A total of eight St. Norbert College football players received nine all-conference honors on the 2012 All-Midwest Conference team released today by the league office.

St. Norbert had five first-team All-MWC selections, with three on the defensive side of the ball. Three players were tabbed for second-team honors, and one received honorable mention.

Senior wide receiver Joe Green earned first-team honors at both wide receiver and return specialist. Green finished the regular season with 49 receptions for 681 yards with eight touchdowns. He also finished with a 15.7 yards per return average on punt returns, tops in the MWC and currently sixth-best nationally.

Defensively, senior defensive lineman Justin Pflum, senior linebacker Adam Nitsche and senior defensive back Austin Arts were named first-team All-MWC. It was the second-straight first-team selection for Arts, who finished the regular season with 33 tackles and a team-high five interceptions with eight passes defensed. Nitsche was second on the team in tackles with 52, while Pflum had 35 tackles with four quarterback sacks.

Junior offensive lineman Andrew Cullen was a second-team All-MWC selection, as were senior defensive lineman Petr Bohacek and senior defensive back Josh Vanden Heuvel. Bohacek had 45 tackles with a team-high 7.5 quarterback sacks, while Vanden Heuvel had 48 tackles this season.

Senior linebacker Tobias Cole was St. Norbert's lone honorable mention choice. Cole had 43 tackles this season with 7.5 tackles-for-loss and 3.5 quarterback sacks.
