DE PERE - St. Norbert College survived a tense third period and manged a late goal to forge a 3-3 tie with UW-Eau Claire in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at the Cornerstone Community Center.

The Green Knights (6-2-1, 4-1-1 NCHA) trailed 3-2 entering the third period. Eau Claire (7-0-1, 5-0-1) made that lead stand up until Brandon Hoogenboom took the puck up the left side, poked the puck through the defenseman's legs, picked up the puck again and beat Eau Claire goaltender Brandon Stephenson for the game-tying goal at 11:49.

Both teams had decent scoring chances in the third and in overtime. St. Norbert nearly pulled out the win in the final 10 seconds, when off a draw in the Eau Claire zone the Green Knights crashed the net and got the puck on the goal line, but not across.

St. Norbert took an early 1-0 lead when Cody Keefer scored a power-play goal 4:36 into the game. Eau Claire answered at 9:51 with a goal by Daniel Olszewski. St. Norbert then scored a 5-on-3 power-play goal when Kyle Stroh's wrister from the top of the circle beat Stephenson at the 12:58 mark.

Eau Claire pulled ahead in the second period on goals by Olszewski at 6:59 and Ross Anderson at 11:57.

St. Norbert outshot Eau Claire 31-26. The Green Knights were 2-for-6 on the power play, while the Blugolds were 0-for-1.

David Jacobson made 23 saves for St. Norbert, including a pair of difficult saves early in the third period to keep the Green Knights within striking distance. Stephenson made 28 stops for the Blugolds.
