DE PERE - St. Norbert College just couldn't quite get enough defensive stops and ended up falling to hot-shooting Grinnell College 105-94 in a Midwest Conference game on Connie Tilley Court at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights (3-3, 2-2 MWC) came back from a 12-point deficit early in the second half to forge a 62-62 tie with 12:24 left, but the Pioneers went on an 11-2 run to take command with a 73-64 lead on a 3-pointer by Jack Taylor with 10:33 remaining.

St. Norbert would get to within three points three more times, but the Pioneers scored on all three possessions to hold off the Green Knights.

St. Norbert shot 34-for-65 (52.3 percent) from the floor but was 25-for-36 (69.4 percent) at the free-throw line. Andrew Schwoerer led St. Norbert with 29 points, while Brandon Gries added 20 points and Paul Appleton 12. The Green Knights held a commanding 47-25 rebounding edge.

Taylor led Grinnell with 36 points. The Pioneers, who modified their offensive approach and took several more high-percentage two-point field-goal attempts than usual, shot 46.8 percent (29-for-62) from the floor. Grinnell was a red-hot 15-for-33 (45.5 percent) from beyond the three-point arc. Patrick Maher added 16 points and Griffin Lentsch 15 for the Pioneers.
