Green Knights Rebound at UW-River Falls

RIVER FALLS - St. Norbert College bounced back from a tough Friday loss to UW-Eau Claire with a 4-2 win over UW-River Falls in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association at Hunt Arena.

The Green Knights (16-4-1, 10-3-1 NCHA) remained two points behind first-place Eau Claire, who eked out a 3-2 win at UW-Stevens Point. Four regular-season games remain on the schedule for all seven NCHA members.

St. Norbert got the early jump, claiming a 2-0 lead after one period. Joe Perry pumped in his 11th goal of the season with the first goal at 11:52 of the first period. Cullen Bradshaw followed with his 13th goals of the season at 16:58.

The Green Knights increased their lead in the second period when Mason Baptista scored for the sixth time this season with a goal at 15:03 of the stanza.

River Falls (10-8-3, 3-8-3) closed to within 3-1 with a power-play goal by Adam Cardwell at 10:22 of the third period, but Brandon Hoogenboom salted the game away at the 16:52 mark with his seventh goal of the season. The Falcons picked up a shorthanded consolation goal by Tom DeBace with two seconds remaining.

St. Norbert outshot River Falls 28-22. The Green Knights were 0-for-6 on the power play, while the Falcons were 1-for-7. David Jacobson made 20 saves for St. Norbert, while Scott Lewan turned away 24 shots for the Falcons.
