St. Norbert in Second Place After First Day at MWC Indoor Meet

MONMOUTH, Ill. - St. Norbert College totaled 51 points to sit in second place after the first day of the Midwest Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship at Monmouth College's Huff Athletic Center.

The Green Knights trail 13-time defending champion Monmouth by 28 points heading into the second and final day. The Scots' 79 points are well ahead of third-place Ripon College's 29 points.

St. Norbert claimed three of the top seven finishers in the 1-mile run. Benny Swift won the conference title with a time of 4:19.61, while Nathan Heppe was second in 4:23.24. Mike Linzmeier was seventh with a time of 4:35.78.

Randy Hill was third in the long jump with a distance of 22 feet 3 inches. Dan Sisler was seventh at 21-9, while Andrew Jacobson was eighth at 21-6 3/4.

The Green Knights were third in the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay. Taylor Pasterski, Akeem Edmonds, Stephen Sheperd and Jake Schneider totaled a time of 3:35.84.

Brad Boockmeier was fourth in the shot put with a heave of 48-6 1/4, and Joe McArdle was fifth with a distance of 46-6.

Logan Jadin was seventh in the 5,000-meter run at 15:46.23, followed by Michael Heise in eighth place at 15:58.69.
