DE PERE - St. Norbert College clinched the championship of the Midwest Conference North Division with a doubleheader sweep of Beloit College by scores of 8-1 and 11-6 at Mel Nicks Field.

St. Norbert (19-13, 10-4 MWC) will host the MWC Tournament on May 3-4 at Mel Nicks Field. Lake Forest College won the MWC South Division, and the other two qualifiers for the tournament will be determined Sunday.

The Green Knights took advantage of eight Beloit errors to win the opener. Abby Gildernick put St. Norbert ahead with a two-run single in the second inning, the Green Knights' only hit of the frame. Gildernick had a two-run single again in the third inning to key a three-run rally.

Steph Brunette had an RBI single in the fourth, and Brunette and Morgan Buboltz had RBIs in the sixth inning.

Morgan Rusch allowed three hits, no earned runs, one walk and struck out six. Gildernick finished 2-for-4 with four RBIs, while Brunette was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Jessica DeMeuse was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

In the nightcap, St. Norbert scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to erase a 6-5 deficit. Samantha Gross' bunt single tied the game, and Brunette's bunt single pushed the Green Knights ahead. DeMeuse had a two-run single and Emily Laufer a sacrifice fly later in the inning, and St. Norbert added an unearned run to finish the rally.

Gildernick had an RBI single in the second and third innings, while Brunette drove in a run in the fourth inning. Buboltz hit a solo home run in the fifth inning, but Beloit scored four times in the top of the sixth on Emily Dorjath's grand slam.

Gildernick, Gross and Brunette all had two hits apiece, with Brunette, Gildernick and DeMeuse all recording two RBIs each. Rusch earned the win in relief, allowing seven hits and four runs with three walks and two strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings pitched.
