Green Knights Win Wisconsin Private College Championship

DE PERE - St. Norbert College won the Wisconsin Private College Invitational for the second consecutive year with a strong showing at Schneider Stadium.

The Green Knights scored 192 points to easily outdistance runner-up Carthage College, which had 135 points. Ripon College was third with 125 points.

Randy Hill, Jordan Baker and Mike Verfuerth swept the top three spots in the long jump. Hill won the event with a distance of 22 feet 9 1/4 inches, while Baker had a leap of 21-9 1/2. Verfuerth finished with a distance of 21-3 1/2.

Hill won the triple jump with a distance of 45-9 1/4, and placed second in the high jump at 6-6 3/4.

Brady Bemis and Luke Frommelt went one-two in the 10,000-meter run, recording times of 35:53.00 and 36:43.11, respectively. In the 400-meter dash, Taylor Pasterski won with a time of 49.29 seconds, while Akeem Edmonds was third in 50.25 seconds.

Pasterski also copped the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.19 seconds. Jack Feuerstein won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.54 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay team also won with a time of 3:27.21.

Jake Schneider was second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:00.44, and Justin Fote was third in 2:00.81. Nathan Heppe was second in the 5,000-meter run in 16:36.46.

Verfuerth was third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.20 seconds. Patrick Sweetman was third in the javelin throw with a toss of 151-6. Anthony Parker was third in the triple jump with a distance of 42-6.
