Boockmeier Earns All-America Honors in Decathlon

LA CROSSE - St. Norbert College freshman Brad Boockmeier earned All-America honors by finishing in eighth place in the decathlon at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship at UW-La Crosse's Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Boockmeier totaled 6,471 points and was the lone freshman to finish in the top eight. Central College's Eric Larson won the decathlon championship with 6,969 points.

Boockmeier entered the second day of the decathlon with 3,483 points. He opened the day with 738 points in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 15.95 seconds. He followed with a distance of 116 feet 10 inches in the discus throw for 576 points. Boockmeier then cleared a height of 11-11.75 in the pole vault for 522 points.

Boockmeier added a 160-2 distance in the javelin throw for 571 points. He then earned 581 points in the final event, the 1,500-meter run, with a time of 4:58.38.

A total of 20 contestants competed in the decathlon.
