St. Norbert Tips Grinnell, Blanks Beloit

ROCKFORD, Ill. - St. Norbert College improved to 12-1 on the season with a pair of wins, topping Beloit College in a Midwest Conference North Division match 9-0, before edging Grinnell College 5-4 in a non-conference match. Both matches were played at Rockford Boylan High School.

The Green Knights jumped out to a 3-0 lead by taking all three doubles points from Grinnell. Nancy Chybowski and Erika Chitko topped Shirlene Luke and Sadhana Athreya 8-6 at No. 1. Elizabeth Manlick and Ashley Randazzo defeated Hanna Feldman and Emma Macdonald 8-3 at No. 2, while Katherine Ake and Maggie Berens bested Virginia Purcell and Julia Rumley 8-3 at No. 3.

Chybowski topped Luke at No. 1 singles 2-6, 7-5, 10-7, and Manlick defeated Purcell 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 at No. 3 for the two singles points needed.

Against Beloit, Ake and Berens shutout Alex Hinck and Samantha Kninard 8-0 at No. 3 doubles. Ariel Bloniarz defeated Paola Schnabel 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5. Manlick topped Alex Hinck 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3, while Chitko defeated Courtney Yates 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2.
