MADISON - An early deficit proved to be too much to overcome as the St. Norbert College women's soccer team lost their 2008 season opener 2-0 to Edgewood College at historic Breese Stevens Field.

Edgewood (1-0) scored exactly 2 minutes into the match when Elyse Clouthier knocked home a rebound off an initial Laura Marx shot. The Eagles picked up their second goal at 21:54 when St. Norbert knocked in an own goal.

St. Norbert (0-1) outshot Edgewood in the match by an 11-10 margin, including an 8-2 advantage in the second half. The Green Knights had eight corner kick opportunities in the second half but could not find the back of the net.

Mallory Ford made three saves for the Green Knights, while Ilana Bar-av made six saves to register the shutout for Edgewood.
