Tilley Earns 600th Win as Green Knights Crush Beloit

BELOIT - St. Norbert College coach Connie Tilley became the 13th coach in NCAA Division III women's basketball history to reach 600 career wins as the Green Knights rolled to a 73-48 win over Beloit College in a Midwest Conference game at Flood Arena.

Tilley reached the achievement in her hometown in her first attempt at the milestone, improving to 600-275 in her 37th season. No collegiate women's coach in Wisconsin has won more games than Tilley, whose win total currently exceeds the rest of the 10 Midwest Conference coaches combined by 28.

The mystery in regards to the outcome was erased early, as the Green Knights led 12-3 in the game's first six minutes. Beloit (3-11, 3-6 MWC) cut the deficit to six at 14-8 with 11:01 remaining in the half, but St. Norbert went on a 9-0 run to take command. Jill Kleiman's 3-pointer got the run started, followed by baskets by Tasha Giese, Brianna Byrne and Morgan Heim for a 23-8 edge with 7:39 left before intermission.

A Lana Tomashek 3-pointer gave the Green Knights (12-3, 9-1) a 36-14 lead late in the first half before the visitors settled on a 40-20 edge at halftime.

The Buccaneers trailed by 20 at 44-24 early in the second half, but a 3-pointer by Heim boosted the Green Knights' lead to 23 and Beloit never got closer the rest of the game.

St. Norbert had an amazing 71 field-goal attempts, making 29 for a 40.8 percentage. Heim finished with 18 points and seven rebounds. Giese registered 14 points with five rebounds. Byrne ended with 12 points, while Tomashek had 10 points for the fourth Green Knight to reach double figures. St. Norbert was a perfect 10-for-10 at the free-throw line.

Beloit shot 40.5 percent from the floor, making 15 of 37 shots, but committed 27 turnovers. Lana Wieseman led the Buccaneers with 15 points.
