St. Norbert Kicks Off Track Season at Ohio Northern

ADA, Ohio - The St. Norbert College men's track team got its 2008 season off to a solid start with selected athletes competing in the first event of the Ohio Northern Friday Night Series.

St. Norbert finished third in the three-school event with 62 points. Host Ohio Northern won the meet with 339 points, while Division II Findlay placed second with 129 points.

Jeff Pentek won the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:01.30 and also finished fourth in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:44.01.

St. Norbert claimed the top two spots in the triple jump, with Paul Leeman winning with a leap of 43 feet 5 3/4 inches, while Dann Schneider was the runner up with a jump of 41-3 1/4.

Jon O'Brien placed second in the mile run with a time of 4:36.21, while the 4x400 relay team of Ham Dowden, Schneider, Tom Georgia and steve Schumacher was second with a time of 3:35.45.
