Green Knights Hook Muskies

HOWARDS GROVE - The St. Norbert College women's soccer team scored six goals for the second time in eight days with a 6-1 rout of Lakeland College.

The Green Knights, who beat Concordia (Wis.) University on Sept. 4 by a 6-0 count, improved to 3-3-1 with the win. Lakeland fell to 2-3.

Caitlin Carrigan drew first blood with a goal in the game's fifth minute. Rachelle Barina followed in the 30th minute with an unassisted score, her third of the season, for a 2-0 halftime lead.

Jessica Schadrie pushed the lead to 3-0 in the 50th minute off an assist from Barina. Three minutes later Lakeland's Kristi Borts cut the Muskies' deficit to 3-1.

Jenni Jacobson got the goal back one minute later on an unassisted score. Schadrie scored her sixth goal of the season off Barina's assist. Sallie Gibbs closed out the scoring with a goal in the 89th minute.

St. Norbert outshot Lakeland 20-11 and held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks. Mallory Ford made three saves in 65 minutes of work to get the win for St. Norbert, while Brittany Verheyen made three saves in 25 minutes of relief.
