St. Norbert Spikers Continue Hot Start, Move to 10-0

RIPON - Behind a pair of three-set sweeps at the Ripon College Tournament, the St. Norbert College women's volleyball team moved to 10-0 to open the 2008 season.

The Green Knights topped the University of Dubuque 25-19, 26-24, 25-16, and then followed with a 25-19, 25-21, 25-18 triumph over Martin Luther College.

St. Norbert plays UW-River Falls and Carroll University on Saturday in the final day of the tournament.

Joanna Mamayek led St. Norbert against Dubuque, hitting .478. Mamayek hammered home 13 kills against just two errors in 23 attempts. Mamayek also had seven blocks including two solos. Laura Ayello had 29 assists and 10 digs, both team highs. The Green Knights hit .235 in the match.

Sarah Sulentic posted team highs against Martin Luther, nailing nine kills with eight blocks. Ayello had 25 assists with four solo blocks. Katie Casebolt led the Green Knights with 15 digs, while Ayello, Kim Angst and Danielle DeGroot all had nine digs apiece.
