ST. LOUIS - St. Norbert College scored in seven of nine innings to outlast Grinnell College and claim a 15-11 win at Washington University's Kelly Field.

The Green Knights (6-4), winners of six of their last seven games, had to hold off a last-ditch Grinnell (6-7) rally, with the Pioneers scoring five runs in the bottom of the ninth inning before a batter was retired.

Alex Larsen's two-run home run in the third inning gave the Green Knights a 4-2 lead. St. Norbert picked up an unearned run in the fourth, and Grinnell scored a single run in the bottom of the sixth to cut the deficit to 5-3.

Larsen and Nick Pierre had RBI singles in a three-run seventh inning to give St. Norbert an 8-3 lead, but the Pioneers scored three runs in the bottom half of the inning. The Green Knights broke the game open with a six-run eighth. Chad Ljunggren had an RBI single, and two runs later scored with two outs on a Grinnell error. Larsen had a two-run triple, and Spencer Larson had a bunt single to drive in Larsen.

Troy Rottier added an RBI double in the ninth to put the Green Knights ahead 15-6. Grinnell made things interesting by scoring five runs on four hits and one error before a batter was retired in the bottom of the ninth, but St. Norbert's Jake McMahon set down all batters he faced to close out the game.

St. Norbert belted 18 hits. Larsen was 4-for-5 with three runs scored and five RBIs. Travis Mason and Derek Klegin both had three hits, while Cameron Jerina had two. Ljunggren was 2-for-5 with three runs scored.

Matt Freeman got the win, allowing four hits with four walks and eight strikeouts in six innings of work.
