WAUKESHA - Katherine Larson's goal midway through the second half proved to be the game-winner as St. Norbert College posted a huge 2-1 win over Carroll University at Schneider Stadium.

The Green Knights (4-3-1, 1-0 MWC) triumph in their conference opener came over the defending league regular-season and tournament champions. St. Norbert also snapped an eight-game losing streak to Carroll (2-2, 0-1 MWC) dating back to the 2002 season.

Carroll had the best of the first-half action, outshooting St. Norbert 7-0 in the first 45 minutes but had only a 1-0 lead to show for it. Kendell Uttech scored 6 minutes 3 seconds into the game but that would be the last marker the Pioneers would tally.

Jessica Schadrie got the Green Knights on the board with her seventh goal of the season at 51:29, knocking the ball home near post off an assist from Stephanie Gatyas.

Larson won a 1-on-1 against the goaltender 13 minutes later for her second goal of the season with an assist to Rachelle Barina. Larson's goal was her second of the year.

St. Norbert outshot Carroll 8-4 in the second half but was outshot 11-8 for the game. Carroll also had a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Mallory Ford made eight saves for the Green Knights, while Ashlee Reinke made three saves for the Pioneers.
