DE PERE - St. Norbert College settled for a split in a Midwest Conference North Division doubleheader with Lawrence University at Mel Nicks Field. The Green Knights won the opener 6-3 before dropping the nightcap 3-0 in eight innings.

The Green Knights (15-15, 8-4 MWC North) had to play from behind in the opener, as the Vikings took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on an Amanda Jaskolski two-run home run. St. Norbert promptly answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning on a two-run double by Samantha Gross and an RBI single by Abby Gildernick.

Jessica DeMeuse added a solo home run in the bottom of the second, and Emily Laufer drilled a two-run home run - her fifth circuit clout of the year - in the third. The Vikings (16-10, 7-5) would get one run in the fifth but would get no closer.

MacKenzie Hazen and Codi Jenshak both had two hits for St. Norbert. Morgan Rusch earned the win, allowing four hits with five walks and no strikeouts in a complete-game effort.

The nightcap was a pitchers' duel between Lawrence's Kara Vance and St. Norbert's Brianna Byrne. The Vikings collected three runs on two hits and one St. Norbert error in the top of the eighth inning to get the win.

St. Norbert's best chance to score was in the first inning, when Hazen tripled with two outs but was stranded. The Green Knights were held to three hits.

Vance walked just one and did not strike out a batter, and was backed by errorless defense. Byrne allowed four hits with five walks and one strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings.
