St. Norbert Wins MWC Opener to Stay Unbeaten

BELOIT - St. Norbert College extended its start to the 2014 season to 7-0 by claiming a 4-0 win over Beloit College in the Midwest Conference opener for both teams at the Strong Stadium Complex.

The Green Knights took a 2-0 lead into halftime. Sam Lamers scored off a Marco Delbecchi assist just 7 minutes 6 seconds into the game. Joe Fabich scored his third marker of the season at 31:27, with Lamers assisting.

St. Norbert salted the game away late in the second half, with Lamers connecting for his fourth goal of the year at 73:45, with Tyler Kassube getting an assist. Austin Mahlik then scored his first collegiate goal with an unassisted marker at 80:32.

St. Norbert outshot Beloit 20-9 and also had a 13-3 advantage in corner kicks. Scott Faul made two saves in nearly 75 minutes in goal, while Sam Lisheron made two stops in 15:22 of relief.

The Green Knights are now idle for two weeks, returning to the pitch on Oct. 4 against Monmouth College at Schneider Stadium in De Pere.
